It's that time of year again! COAD's AFN & Older Adults Subcommittee has put together this year's information campaign for emergency preparedness. As our partners, we encourage you to share this information with as many clients and partners as you can so that more people know about the resources available in our community before a disaster happens. The first steps in a response for vulnerable individuals, such as older adults and those with access and functional needs, is preparedness. Together we can build a more resilient Napa County!

 

This week's topic is: GETTING CONNECTED AND STAYING INFORMED 

 

We provide OUTREACH QUESTIONS as conversation starters for this week's topic, and in the following section we provide the RESOURCES to answer those questions. Flyers, in both pdf and jpeg formats, and links are provided for easy sharing. You may use the jpeg images for online sharing, and the pdf versions for printing and sharing hard copies.

Alert Napa County is the alert system that Napa County uses to keep the community informed about what may be happening around the county, including emergency messaging. Napa Valley COAD Meet Your Neighbor Program

The Meet Your Neighbor Program helps promote self-resilience through neighborly connections. Planning and pulling your resources together could help during any emergency. Many older adults relied on neighbors knocking on their doors during the most recent evacuations to know that it was time to evacuate, so forming these connections early on can help with staying informed and creating an evacuation plan.

Older Adults need to connect to their local resource centers in order to stay connected to the community, below is a short list of some of these centers (may not include all resource centers). Community members may connect to these agencies directly if they have any questions before or during an emergency. These organizations and agencies provide a variety of services for older adults and individuals with access and functional needs outside of disasters, but surge into action when there is an emergency.
