Holly Willoughby can't hide her shock as her co-host Phillip Schofield tries on some kinky thigh-high boots on This Morning

ITV's daytime favourite This Morning has had a major revamp for the autumn.

But new titles, a new studio and a new resident puppy aren't the only changes, with host Phillip Schofield showing off a fresh addition to his wardrobe during Tuesday's show.

The 53-year-old gave viewers a huge surprise at the close of the morning show, standing up to reveal he was wearing a pair of thigh-high red boots.

The racy new footwear was in celebration of Cyndi Lauper's appearance on the show, with the music icon promoting the West End opening of the Kinky Boots musical.

While Phillip kept any sign of his new boots hidden as he and co-host Holly Willoughby sat at the studio desk for the interview with Cyndi, at the close of the chat the cheeky presenter stood up for the surprise reveal.

'A good pair of boots, you can't beat them!' he told Cyndi as he moved to another part of the studio.

Holly couldn't hide her shock as Phillip casually chatted about Wednesday's show with a straight face as the camera panned up and down the boots, much to the amusement of the crew dotted around the studio.

Holly was quick to joke that her co-host better take off the boots ahead of the next day's show when the Duchess of Cornwall is due to drop by, but viewers then saw Phil show off his moves, in what the show's Twitter account quickly dubbed the 'Fox Drop.'

Phillip added that he and the This Morning team were still laughing at the hilarious moment after the show, telling his Twitter followers:

'Just read through your tweets, we've only just stopped laughing at my outrageous behaviour at the end of the show today.Funniest thing was keeping it secret for the entire interview with Cyndi Lauper.'

Phillip was doing his best impression of Lola, the main character in Kinky Boots, who is played by Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor in the hit 2005 film.

The story, based on real events, follows Charlie Price, who inherits a shoe factory from his father. To save the business, Charlie forms an unlikely partnership with drag queen, Lola.

The musical adaptation celebrated its 1000th performance on Broadway last month, and has attracted a huge buzz ahead of the London opening on September 15.

Tony winner Cyndi has provided the music for the show, and told Phillip and Holly that she's delighted to see the UK-set story return home. 'It's really exciting to have it in England...I get the jokes more!' she pointed out.
