New season, new developments! Spring brings fresh updates: a new technology platform, exciting research insights, and upcoming training opportunities.

UCLouvain now hosts 46 technology platforms, with the latest addition being the Mechanics, Tooling, Machining, and Glassworking (MOUV) platform.

In research, CICN is shedding new light on how natural supplements influence stress management and mood regulation, while SMCS has just signed a collaboration agreement with UNamur in the field of Human Sciences.

On the training side, SMCS and CENTAL are organizing a summer school on text data processing using artificial intelligence techniques.

The Platform Community

The Mechanics, Tooling, Machining and Glassworking (MOUV) platform is the result of a collaboration between the IRMP and IMCN institutes and the CRC platform. It provides support and technical assistance at every stage of the design process for a mechanical or glass prototype, from mechanical manufacturing to on-site experimental installation.

Natural supplements for stress management and mood regulation
Two recent CICN studies, with published results, highlight the benefits of Red Panax ginseng and the combination of saffron and skullcap on psychological well-being.

Saffron and skullcap
The combination of extracts from these two plants has a synergistic effect, significantly improving emotional well-being and reducing anxiety-depressive symptoms.

 

Red Panax ginseng: an anti-stress and cognitive ally
Results showed a significant reduction in perceived stress (PSS) and negative affect (PANAS), with improved cognitive reactivity in a spatial planning test.

Equipment management, inventory and reservation system undergoes extensive testing!
As mentioned in previous editions, the CREDEM, MiiL, MOCA and WELCOME platforms, as well as the technical unit of the Environmental Sciences division of the Earth and Life Institute, have already adopted the tool and are actively encoding their equipment.
8 other structures are currently carrying out tests, and are active in the fields of Science and Technology (LACAMI, LEMSC, MICA, P2C, SEFY platforms), or Health (2IP and CytoFlux platforms, as well as the Human neuroscience techniques unit of the IONS institute).

CICN is looking for a Clinical Studies Coordinator
He or she will be responsible for managing various studies, from drafting protocols, recruiting volunteers and monitoring their progress, to collecting data and writing the publication containing the results.
