The month of July is an exciting one for many reasons.

First, the Living Transplant podcast returns with a new season and a new host - Candice Coghlan, a kidney transplant recipient and Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Centre for Living Organ Donation. Each episode will feature Candice, a guest host with lived experience and a frontline care provider, researcher or innovator in the field of transplant. Hear incredible stories, go behind the scenes to explore the world of transplant and come along on our journey - new episode every second Thursday.

Second, we are revving up for Living Donation Week 2022 (September 11-17). Join us for our annual Celebration (virtual again this year), #ShareTheLight events across Canada, educational webinars, Research Pitch competition, stories and messages of hope and gratitude from recipients and donors, families and transplant teams, and a few awesome surprises!! Stay tuned!

Finally our webinar series continues with a livestream on liver transplantation and living donation en français  (presented with the Canadian Liver Foundation), a follow-up webinar for caregivers (co-hosted with the Kidney Foundation), and of course our regular Tuesday series for kidney and liver patients on the waitlist, people exploring living donation and everyone who wants to be part of their future.

And don't forget to follow us on social media for Storytelling Saturdays. If you or someone you know has a story to share, please reach out at livingorgandonation@uhn.ca

We have lots of exciting events and education opportunities coming your way, so stay tuned!

Recently, University of Toronto Professor of Medicine and Nephrology Division Director, Dr Rulan Parrekh joined the ACB Organ Health Advisory Committee to discuss racism in medicine. The above recording is an excerpt of that meeting. For a patient perspective on the race modifier in eGFR, see this Toronto Star article.
