Nb. 5 - March 21st, 2023 - One year already!

A new platform, some new logos, new events, new faces... : Spring is definitely under the sign of renewal!

One year old... This Spring, the UCLouvain technology platforms newsletter celebrates its very first anniversary, with a quite a lot of news.

First of all, we can now officially announce the creation of a new platform: the Consultations Psychologiques Spécialisées (CPS) which is holding its inaugural conference on Thursday, April 20.

With the support of the Province du Brabant wallon, some platforms have developed a new logo. In April, many of our platforms will take part in 4 thematic morning sessions (medtech, deeptech, digital and transition) along with companies.

And of course, you can read here some recent platform news that are related to research or teaching, and find out who has recently joined our platforms' teams.

Enjoy your reading!

The platforms community

Do not hesitate to talk about this initiative and to relay it around so that an ever-growing public is informed of what is happening within the UCLouvain platforms!

Boost innovation in your company with the technology platforms of UCLouvain
Technology platforms give you access to

Interested in testing the health benefits of plant combinations? The CICN is the place to be!
The CICN platform is performing several studies and is looking for volunteers to test the effectiveness of plant combinations on :
• sleep disorders (valerian/California poppy)
• slow intestinal transit (kiwi/peony/magnolia/prebiotic)
• mood disorders (rhodiola/saffron)

Open Educational Resources : CREDEM, LACaMi et LEMSC are actively involved !
Virtual laboratory videos were recorded in the CREDEM, LACaMi and LEMSC platforms
  • "Fabrication mécanique : laboratoire de tournage et fraisage"
  • "Structures en béton armé : Essai de flexion sur poutre en béton armé"

The success of these videos exceeds today the circle of the UCLouvain students since they cumulate more than 100 000 views on Youtube and are now proposed in OER.

Welcome!
Nearly 300 people are working on a daily basis within the UCLouvain platforms. Discover those who have joined this community in the last 3 months!

Caroline Barbé (right) took over the management of the CICN, which also welcomed Lucas Jonniaux (left) as clinical study coordinator. For his new position, Lucas will be in charge of managing the DELICEN'S impact study which aims to develop a range of food products nutritionally adapted to elderly people at risk of undernutrition.

Simon De Jaeger joined the CREDEM platform in early January. He is in charge of rapid prototyping, both mechanical (3D printing, laser cutting, milling of wood panels etc.) and electronic (programming of microcontrollers such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc.).

At the beginning of January, Simon Vanderveken joined the Fermes universitaires team, where he will manage the vegetable garden and research projects on the Lauzelle site. He will also be in charge of the field monitoring of farmers' trials in the framework of the CERES - Agricultures en Transition project financed by the Baillet Latour Fund.
