Did you know, back in the year 2000, the Secret Society of Happy People (yes, that’s really a thing) decided to dedicate the whole month of August to the active pursuit of happiness? To observe, we must simply think about happiness and the things that makes us happy! What makes you happy?

What is making us happy is that Living Donation Week is only one month away, September 10-16th and we have so many incredible events and activities coming your way!

We have events all week, with beautiful landmarks across Canada lit up green. On Sunday, September 10, we are kicking off the week at the Constantine Yorkville Toronto 5km run/walk, followed by new video releases from the Great Actions Leave a Mark campaign.

On Monday September 11 we will have an online Celebration Event with inspiring stories and messages, living donor medal selfies and more (if you moved since your donation please let us know so your gift of life medal gets to you).

Tuesday September 12 will highlight professional development and partner events, including a collaborative webinar discussing early results from the Expedited One Day Living Kidney Donor Evaluation pilot project. You can view Dr Ann Bugeja's successful submission to the LDW2021 Pitch Competition here.

Wednesday September 13 will feature virtual and in-person How to Find a Living Donor Interactive sessions across Canada, followed by a virtual drop in session to address questions on Friday, September 15. In between, we will release a new episode of the Living Transplant podcast episode on the future of transplant with physician scientists and transplant nephrologist, Dr. Joseph Kim and living donor and patient advocate, Sylvie Charbonneau.

We will end the week with thank you's to our amazing living donors, courageous transplant recipients and people on the waitlist, Team Transplant and everyone who makes living organ transplant possible. View our entire schedule and register for events at givelifeuhn.eventbrite.ca and check out our #LDW2023 Partner Kit for facts & stats and other info.

We look forward to lighting up green and celebrating with all of YOU!
