In this episode of the Living Transplant Podcast host Candice Coghlan is joined by Centre for Living Organ Donation co-founders, Joanne Kearney and Brendan Cahill, and Ajmera Transplant Centre director, Dr Atul Humar.

The Kidney Foundation’s Chinese Renal Association was live and on air on Sing Tao A1 Chinese Radio AM 1540 on Thursday, September 15th for a live radiothon. The one-day event invites listeners to hear unique stories from kidney patients, physicians, allied health professionals and volunteers and will help educate listeners about kidney health while raising funds to support crucial programs and services like short term financial assistance.

New Initiatives

#ShareTheShorts is a competition sponsored by the Ajmera Transplant Centre to promote awareness of the lifesaving power of organ donation and transplantation through the creativity and storytelling expertise of young content creators aged 12-18. The deadline for submissions is Dec 31 2022. Submissions received by Dec 1, 2022 will be eligible for early bird draws. Up to $30K in cash and prizes will be awarded. 
Trina, a PEI resident who donated her liver to a stranger in need at the Ajmera Transplant Centre in Toronto shares her story about making the final decision and how Hope Air and the Centre for Living Organ Donation are helping to eliminate the financial burden and stress of coordinating travel and accommodation. The Living Donor Fund will top up travel and accommodation support for living donor candidates from outside of Ontario, or from rural or northern areas who travel to Toronto General Hospital for tests and surgery.
