Hernando County Government is hosting the installment of the Springs Protection Zone signage on Thursday, May 2 at 11 a.m. at Rogers Park.

Protections on the Weeki Wachee River are taking a big step as the start of the Springs Protection Zone took place at Roger's Park Thursday.

Locals say the rules will ruin the fun, but the state says they are needed to stop the rapid decline of the river's health.
