Speakers: Kristin Nelson of Region V Systems, Arnold Remington of Targeted Adult Services Coordination (TASC), Officer Melissa Ripley of the Lincoln Police Department, Lisa Vukov of MAACH, and Tina Murray of Together
This webinar, which focuses on Tenant Behavior, is the second of four in a series targeting Property Managers. Using the knowledge of our local tenant behavior experts, this webinar will help inform landlords and property managers on best practices for dealing with problematic tenants and how to use the services available to prevent eviction.
Kristin Nelson began the session with an explanation of mental illness, and how these often invisible issues can impact tenants and their ability to stay housed. Kristin details how to approach tenants suffering with an illness, and how to help them find the services they need. Arnold followed up by explaining case management, and how case managers are invaluable allies to both the tenant and the landlord. Case managers are vital to preventing eviction and providing crisis response, and are available in all six behavioral health Nebraska regions. Wrapping up the presentations was Officer Melissa Ripley, who explained the Behavioral Health Threat Assessment training that LPD officers receive. This training includes how officers help provide welfare checks, connect troubled tenants with needed resources and develop important relationships to prevent problems from growing. At the end of the slides, there was a call in from Lisa Vukov and Tina Murray, who gave an update on the latest CARES funding news and their efforts to engage landlords to house tenants.
