Vegans, prepare yourselves: A super sad looking salad emoji is now in existence, and it's all for you. Google announced 157 new emojis available for Android users later this summer, and among the redheads, gender-neutral families, and water gun (to replace a pistol), the salad emoji got a slight update.
It's a spot-the-difference kind of change, and it was apparently done to soothe the souls of vegans.
The old salad, you may or may not remember, had a hard-boiled egg on it. Google developers felt it important to take out the egg, though as Eater pointed out, that leaves it looking pretty wimpy. Vegans are hopefully eating something more filling than lettuce and tomatoes, but alas, this is what we have to work with for now. Given how the cheeseburger cheese placement fiasco went down, that could very well change soon.
Other additions include a bagel and cream cheese emoji, so you can now beg your friends to bring you breakfast with minimal effort, and a crispier-looking piece of bacon. Doing the Lord's work, you know?
