Let's Run Together

Welcome to Mile Marker 2!

We hope you enjoyed last week's premiere issue, and think we've got some interesting things to share this week.

I've done a lot of reading about growth versus fixed mindsets, and how the ideas can relate to runners and running. We've included a link to a blog post I wrote earlier this week, as well as to an inspiring video. Spoiler alert: the video is not directly about running, but has everything to do with having a growth mindset.

We'd also like to highlight one of the programs we've started up and are very excited about: TLR's KidStart Running Clubs. This week we're working with a school that already had an active running club, seeing how we can support and augment their activity, and a school that is starting one from scratch with our help. The kids range widely in age, from kindergarten students who walk and skip their way through nearly a mile to 6th graders who really attack a 2.5 mile run.

Again, this slight strategic pivot toward younger kids gives us an immediate opportunity to make a difference as well as develop a great community of future mentees (and ultimately, mentors.)

As always, we've included articles and links that we hope you can use and enjoy.

Thanks for clicking!

Why the growth mindset works for runners.
It’s not just about being positive.
It’s about finding a way around a problem.
It’s about seeing a challenge in a different light and developing solutions and resourcefulness.
Having a growth mindset builds ‘grit’, resilience and self-efficacy.
The more challenges you overcome, the more confident you become in your abilities.
And the good thing about it is that just by knowing about the growth mindset, you can start to change how you think.
