My favourite author or book
I’m terrible at picking favourites, but I recently read The Book of Night Women by Marlon James and it really stuck with me. It’s a story about a group of women planning an uprising on a Jamaican slave plantation. The whole story is written in patois, but after a chapter or two, the language becomes so easy and creates an incredibly immersive read.

The book I’m reading
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. It’s pretty extraordinary and so vivid. Read it.

by Ralph Ellison. I need to reread it because it’s a big read, but it’s just such a great exploration of racism and where to stand within the cause as
