Fun, Family, and the Fourth of July

Today we wish you a happy and safe Independence Day, we would also encourage you that amid the beach towels, cook-outs, and fireworks, remember the men and women who willingly put it all on the line for the freedoms we enjoy.

Don't forget the real meaning of why the whole country celebrates each July 4th. If we each thank at least one veteran, they will know our mission.

And please help your neighbors be mindful of those veterans who walk with invisible wounds like PTSD, which can make the fireworks celebrations a terrorizing event.
If you didn't know Kevin Haynes was a military veteran, you could probably figure it out when you saw the two flags flying from his front porch -- an American flag and a U.S. Marine Corps Flag.
While not everyone with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has the same triggers, for those who have a sensitivity to loud noise, holidays like the Fourth of July can be difficult, to say the least.

What Does Patriotism Mean To You?

Wreaths Across America - Official Page
Independence Day calls to mind many parts of the American story. In keeping with our 2017 theme—I’m an American…YES, I am!—we want to celebrate patriotism from all parts of the country and all walks of life. Help us tell the story. Upload a photo of your family that defines patriotism for you.

WAA`s "Military Musicians Showcase" Presents The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps
"The Old Guard has been the ceremonial standard bearer for the U.S. Army for decades, and they wanted to add another element to represent even more of our Army's early heritage."

Today, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps is a performance group comprised of seventy men and women with diverse musical backgrounds.

What Does Home Mean To You?

As holidays and celebrations approach, it is important for us to remember and honor the selflessness of our service members and their families, as many of them cannot be home to join in the festivities.
As we celebrate 241 years of Independence, we thank the generations of hardworking Americans from all different backgrounds and beliefs that have built this nation! We are proud to serve...

We would love to hear from you on any of these channels:

Do you know of a patriotic story for or about our veterans, that we should be sharing? We would love to hear it!

You can submit the basic details here, and we will follow up with you.

Note: Have you ever had a conversation with a "reporter-bot?" We set this up to collect stories 24/7 or whenever it is convenient for you, and then the WAA Social Media Team can join the conversation. We look forward to hearing from you!
