A paper that establishes the formation of interdigitated polyelectrolytes (PE) brush bilayers even for weak interdigitation has been published in the Physical Review E (PRE). The paper, “Polyelectrolyte Brush Bilayers in Weak Interpenetration Regime: Scaling theory and Molecular Dynamics Simulations,” was written by Siddhartha Das, an assistant professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland, and two UMD doctoral students, Shayandev Sinha and Parth Rakesh Desai. It discusses research that employs molecular dynamics simulations and develops new scaling laws to probe the behavior of PE brushes in the weakly interpenetrating regime.

The paper is available at https://journals.aps.org/pre/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevE.97.032503.
