April Is The Month Of The Military Child

The service of military children is easy to overlook.  Let’s take a minute to slow down and appreciate what the life of a military child entails.  The following are just a few of the challenges military children face:  moving and starting over on an average of every 1-3 years, attending 6-9 different schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, and multiple deployments of a parent.  Throughout all of this, military children are resilient and patriotic.  They know first-hand what it feels like to be the new kid, so they are usually the first one to welcome a new student to school.

Telling One Story - Hits Home

This week several of us had the pleasure of joining Ellen Fuller (WAA Supporter) at The Fairfax retirement home, where residents were treated to Patrick Dewane's one man, multimedia show "The Accidental Hero" about his grandfather Matt Konop and his service in WWII. It is an AMAZING story and well worth seeing if you get a chance.
