Diverse: Study Reveals Perceptions of the Student Voice on Campuses

An article in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education highlights research on student inclusion in school governing. The study, led by UMD COE Ph.D. student Lindsey Templeton, surveyed student leaders on the regularity and quality of meetings with school officials, including school presidents and chief financial officers.

Such relationships “are shaped by the culture and norms at an institution and may determine how well student voice is perceived and received,” Templeton said to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

Templeton is a doctoral student at UMD and a research fellow at the National Campus Leadership Council. Her research interests include female leadership development and career advancement.
