U.S. News & World Report Ranks University of Maryland College of Education Among Best in Nation

College Park, MD — The University of Maryland College of Education graduate programs excel in the U.S. News & World Report 2019 rankings, with the College’s Counseling and Personnel Services program ranking first in the nation for the 19th consecutive year. US News & World Report, which released its assessment on March 20, 2018, evaluated more than 250 graduate schools in education across the United States and the UMD College of Education placed highly among its peer institutions.

“The College of Education’s success reflects the quality of our faculty and student body, our commitment to teaching and learning that produces leaders in the field, and our longstanding strength in research,” said Dean Jennifer King Rice.

The UMD College of Education’s graduate programs received the following top national rankings:

  • Counseling and Personnel Services (#1)
  • Educational Psychology (#9)
  • Higher Education Administration (#10)
  • Special Education (#14)
  • Secondary Education (#15)

The UMD College of Education ranked:

  • #2 in Maryland
  • #23 among public institutions nationwide
  • #33 among all institutions nationwide

U.S. News & World Report determines its rankings using a number of factors, which include peer assessment, educational professionals’ assessment, student selectivity, faculty resources, and research activity.
